As an immigrant to this land and a teacher candidate living in Oshawa, I acknowledge that I live and learn on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, covered under the Williams Treaties. I recognize the longstanding relationship Indigenous Peoples have with this land, and I am committed to honouring their histories, languages, and cultures in my role as an educator. As someone who values equity and advocacy, I continue to learn how to respectfully integrate Indigenous perspectives into my teaching and support reconciliation through action and awareness.
